Just the two of us......

Sunday Trey and I decided to sleep in and to opt for a trail run..... Just the two of us. We headed north to the Cumberland Trail head off of HWY 111. We decided to run the Soddy Gorge Segment. WOW.... what a beautiful, but HOT day. About 20mins in we found ourselves covered with ticks due running through some VERY overgrown areas. After that.... the ticks weren't nearly as bad. This segment is one of my favorites as it's very runable and it takes you through Pine Forest, Hardwoods, Creek Crossings, Old Mining sites, Rock Formations and one Very beautiful Waterfall (mostly dry on this day unfortunately). http://www.cumberlandtrail.org/soddy.html

It was nice to run with just Trey out there and do our own thing though I did miss our regular group. We did find a spot along the creek to bush wack down and get wet for a bit.

LSD.....

Long Slow Distance........ That's what Cat and I did today on our bikes. Wow.... my legs were quick to remind me that I've not ridden this far in some time. Time to put the big girl panties on and get with the program!

We rode from our houses north of town. I just love riding north of downtown as the scenery and roads are very nice. Also... there are many climbs in which to choose from. You can easily get 1,2 or 3 climbs in if you please.

Thanks to Cat for great company today!

Ouch.... I forgot what that felt like.....

So Joey and I have decided that we'd take over the Wednesday night runs since our friend Farmer has decided he will be putting running on the back burner for now. I sent out an e-mail with very short notice and we had a total of 6 runners show up at Booker T Wednesday night. Not too shaby.

I had forgotten what "ouch" felt like till this run as Joey was pacing us a quite a fast pace for the whole 6 miles! My legs felt fine for the first 4.5miles and then the wheels started coming off. I've got alot of work to do in the speed department, but runs like this will help me get there.... I'm aware of that. Isn't it amazing how I can run for hours on end at a decent pace, but taking it up a notch or two just wreaks havock on my poor lil legs! Quote my words "I'm making a comeback". It might be a slow progress, but I'll get there.

Tonight Trey and I have a speedwork session planned at the track. Hopefully I'll be able to get through that okay!

A nice day in the woods.....

Sunday we ran the Cumberland Trail (Possum Creek Segment) point to point. Sure.... it was only 10 miles, but what most people don't understand is it's the most technical 10 miles around here. The scenery makes it all worth the pain though. This trail is probably the most diverse trail you could ask for as there are Pine Forest, Hardwood Forest, Fern Gardens, Rhododendrom Gardens, Rock Gardens, Creek Crossings, and even a spectacular Water Fall! Spending time in the woods with good company was also a plus.

The ticks are horrible this year. I counted nine on me!

After we finished up we ate lunch with everyone and later on I took Trey and my dad to dinner for Father's Day.

Riverbend Run..... Go Xian go.....

Today Trey and I decided to run the Riverbend run with Xian and Nonna as they were both signed up for the 5K. Xian ran the first mile FAST, the second mile solid and started to tire on the third mile. He still came away with 1st overall in the 8 & under age group! WOW.... I'm really impressed that a 4 year old could do that! We are all so proud of him. What a big day for such a little guy.
He even posed with Alan & Joey for a picture so they could show off their medals.

Run run run around.......

Yep..... Thursday night I ran around the track and even did stairs! My track workout consisted of 1 mile warm-up and 1/4 mile repeats. I threw in 15 x 3 sets of steps for a little more of a challenge. Cool-down was 1/4 mile and some drills. This is gonna take a while to get some speed back!

2nd swim since Ironman....

Monday night was my 2nd swim since IM. I've lost so much fitness! It's time to get with it as there are no more excuses to rest. With thunder and ligthing close to the area we all decided to get out. After I saw Kim and Betty's hair standing up with static electricity.... I decided it was time to head home before getting caught in a storm on the scooter!

I'll be trying to hit this every Monday in hopes of improving my stroke and endurance in the water!

Riverbend.....

Yeah it's that time of year again....Riverbend that is. And here is a picture of typical things along the streets as you enter the festival. Good grief.
This year we decided not to attend the festival. Walking in shoulder to shoulder traffic with cigarette smoking drunks was not appealing. Too bad...as there were one or two acts we might have opted to see. Totally not worth dealing with that crowd though! Instead we cruised around on the scooter and had a very nice dinner downtown.

A HOT ONE!.....

Yesterday I trail ran with some friends on the Cumberland Trail. We did the Soddy Creek Segment.... starting from Hot Water Road and headed north on the trail. This is a segment that we've never done before. We found a swimming hole at our turn around point and most everyone jumped in to cool down. On the return we were all complaining about the heat and were reduced to walking at points. The air was very still and we felt zero breeze. It was like someone was sucking all the energy out of our bodies. I guess Summer is here a bit early this year!

I forgot my camera....so...no pictures for this post!

The Salmon Dance.....

So...this is a very lax week of training due to other responsibilites with our rental property. Hopefully after Saturday I will be ready to go at it full force as all of the work we are doing will be coming to an end.

I keep hearing this song on my satellite radio and found this video that goes with it. It's very cute! Check it out if you want a good giggle. It made me laugh on a day I needed to laugh.
